1:20 PM Case Study: Operating on a Shared Service Model to Drive Optimal Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Innovative Research

Curtin University is one of the premier neurological organization occupying the Ralph and Patricia Sarich Neuroscience Research Institute (SNRI). The SNRI is an outstanding project designed to accommodate 4 organizations to create collaborative environments that will develop world class medical research. The $37.7 million, five levels, 9, 000 square metre construction commenced in 2015 and was provided $3.5 million by Curtin University. Research Facility Manager, Rob Steuart, has had an integral role in the development and management of this research building and will highlight the challenges and strategies to achieve the best working model. He will speak about:

  • Improving communication between multiple tenants
  • The challenges in complying with standards for each discipline
  • Overcoming stakeholder mindsets and beliefs to achieve holistic thinking
  • Developing effective and working management models to ensure operational efficiency
